Volunteering won't fix this alone. Showing up might.

Ways to support survivors in Austin and across the State of Texas.
Your time and skills can help survivors rebuild their lives after trafficking. Whether you can offer a few hours a month or a more consistent commitment, we offer flexible volunteer roles that work around your schedule and respect your boundaries. Every role includes training tailored to your specific responsibilities and ongoing support from our team, so you never feel unprepared or alone in the work. Volunteers assist with legal research, survivor outreach, translation in Spanish or Italian, administrative support, and community education efforts.
Intern
Politi Law PLLC is currently accepting applications for legal internships. Interns work directly alongside Laura Politi, gaining substantive, hands-on experience in human trafficking litigation and corporate compliance matters. Responsibilities may include legal research, drafting case summaries, reviewing client intake materials, and supporting preparation for civil filings. This opportunity is ideally suited to college students pursuing a law degree who want meaningful exposure to survivor-centered advocacy and real casework. Application for Interns coming soon.
Paralegal
Politi Law PLLC is now welcoming applications from qualified candidates for paralegal internship opportunities based in Austin, Texas. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting civil litigation and anti-trafficking advocacy, working directly alongside our legal team on case research, document preparation, and client communication. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to survivor-centered legal work while developing practical skills in a trauma-informed law practice. Application for paralegals coming soon.
Translation help
We serve clients in English, Spanish, and Italian, so you can share your story, and help our clients in the language you’re most comfortable with. If you’re fluent in Spanish or Italian, you can help translate key documents and interpret during meetings, ensuring nothing gets lost and every client fully understands each stage of their case. Clear, trauma-informed communication is central to our work — language should never stand between a survivor and the justice they deserve. Application for translators coming soon.
Courtroom support
Accompany survivors to hearings and depositions, offering calm, steady support when the legal process feels most intimidating. These moments often carry the heaviest weight—facing traffickers, recounting trauma, or navigating unfamiliar rooms and procedures. Your presence helps survivors feel grounded and understood, making each step forward feel more human and less overwhelming. By standing beside them with patience and clarity, you help turn intimidating formalities into manageable moments of progress.
Administrative tasks
Organize case files, manage intake paperwork, and keep daily operations running smoothly in our Austin office. From scheduling and client correspondence, to document preperation and file management, this behind-the-scenes support frees our team to focus fully on our clients and their cases. You’ll also help maintain organized non-confidential records, track deadlines, and coordinate communication between clients, other volunteer staff, and directly with Laura—ensuring nothing slips through the cracks during a case.
Resource research
Your referrals matter. We rely on trusted community partners to help clients access safe housing, job training, and trauma-informed counseling. A solid referral can open the door to stability and real recovery. If you work with survivors or at-risk individuals, your connection to Politi Law can provide the legal advocacy they need to pursue accountability and rebuild with dignity.
Outreach events
Staff tables at community events across Austin, from resource fairs to survivor-centered gatherings. You'll help build awareness by sharing honest, straightforward information about Politi Law—what civil legal options actually look like, who we serve, and how the process works. No pressure, no jargon, just clear conversations that let survivors and their families know real help exists and how to reach it.
Answers before you ask
Clear answers on time commitment, required training, and exactly what to expect as a volunteer — so you can step in with confidence from day one.
How much time do I need to commit?
Volunteers give anywhere from a few hours a month to a few hours a week. We match your availability with what you'd like to do, from court support to outreach and community events.
What if I've never worked with trafficking survivors?
We provide a structured, practical orientation before you begin, and you will work alongside experienced advocates until you feel fully prepared. No prior legal or advocacy background is required. We welcome your commitment to learning and your desire to support our Austin community and residents throughout the State of Texas.
Can I volunteer remotely or just in Austin?
Both. Research, resource building, and translation help can happen from anywhere, so remote volunteers are welcome regardless of location. In-person roles like court support and community outreach take place in Austin, Texas, and are best suited for local volunteers who can be present when survivors need support most.
Will I interact directly with survivors?
After you’ve completed training, some volunteer roles do include direct contact with survivors — like mentoring, peer support, or event assistance. Others don’t involve direct contact at all, such as research, admin support, or community outreach. We’ll work with you to find a role that fits your comfort level, skills, and schedule.
What kind of training is required?
Training covers trauma-informed communication, confidentiality, and foundational knowledge of human trafficking and civil litigation. We are collaborating with a dedicated team to refine our training structure into a standardized, practical methodology. Designed to be efficient and accessible, the training vary depending on your role, some take only a few hours and can be completed on your schedule.
Is there a minimum age or background check?
Yes. All volunteer applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Our positions are well suited for students and dedicated community advocates. For roles involving direct client engagement, a standard background check is required prior to placement. This reflects our firm commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and trusting environment for the individuals we serve. This measure upholds the protection of survivors and ensures every member of our volunteer team meets the same standard of care we apply to each case.
